Summary¶

The single HTML documentation is not working on all machines including the one to create the release. This issue covers not building with --singlehtml for releases until the issue can be resolved.

Steps to reproduce¶

The failing environment is:

FreeBSD 14.1
Python 3.9 or 3.22
Package install npm-node18, npm-node20 or npm-node22. All fail.
NPM install inliner using npm install -g inliner

The failure is the generated HTML file is empty. If the commands are run manually a suitable HTML is created.

Summary¶

Every invocation of waf from the rtems source tree out of the rc6 tarball fails. @opticron says the VERSION file is using the wrong section names and key names.

This will have to be fixed on main as well.

The release process created a VERSION file with the old format for the 6 RC6 release instead of the new version with section [version] and key “revision”. This new expectation was introduced by commit 3d782180eae14… in RTEMS. The current file for RC6 contains RTEMS_VERSION and RTEMS_VERSION_CONTROL_KEY.

rtems.org/logos/… was intended to be a set of permanent URLs for logos. Are we breaking that for the more complex ones?

First I’ve heard of that! Yes it’s going to be broken according to the web logs nobody is using it so I didn’t think it was important? It is not typical for someone to link to your logo but copy the file and use it that way because you can never guarantee the link will work. I do not know why devel.rtems.org was taken here you’d have to ask @chris

The URL I put in is much worse but I wanted something that would work for now because the old one is 100% dead, anyway.

Looks good but the HTML code when people are set to the rich text editor is coming through. I’m guessing it’s delimiting the HTML tags.

This is not nice. The exported data has embedded HTML in it. Escaping the HTML is easy for HTML output but that does not work for PDF output.

It will have it based on whether the user is using the rich editor or not this is actually the normal way it works. The API probably has a way to know which editor the user used so you can base it off of that.

What do you mean? There is no way to tell if it’s rich or not? There are python libraries to strip HTML I would just do that then for non-html versions like PDF.

The HTML is in automatically added notes as a result of rebasing the MR. No one entered it.

Ahh I see what you mean. It must use MarkDown or otherwise for the rich comments. Well that’s easily stripped you can convert it to monospace text using a python library to convert it and keep formatting.

I have added support to handle the HTML and convert it to sphinx.

The change also fixes links and adds support for references. Replies have been fixed.
